b2evolution v0.9.1 “Dawn” released

wahoo! The dev team at b2evolution released an interim version in the new 0.9.1 source trunk. I’m happy to say the performance enhancements are really noticeable. This site went from generating the page you’re viewing in ~1.3s to ~.4s. What an improvement. I’ve already upgraded the blogs running on this site. Thank goodness for file comparers so i could get my customizations back in with little work.

This may just delay my intentions of coding a c#/ms sql blogging engine. I almost switched to wordpress last week because the speed was really wearing on me. Way to go b2evo team on speeding it up. I’m happy.

PHP 5.0.4 released

PHP 5.0.4 was released yesterday to address some bug fixes and security issues.

[31-Mar-2005] The PHP Development Team would like to announce the immediate release of PHP 5.0.4 and 4.3.11. These are maintenance releases that in addition to non-critical bug fixes address several security issues. All Users of PHP are strongly encouraged to upgrade to one of these releases as soon as possible.

This server has been upgraded as of five minutes ago.

PHP5 update

Several key bugfixes were implemented in the latest version of PHP. I’ve upgraded this server to PHP 5.0.3. Everything seems to be functioning correctly so far. Cool.

I got a hold of a cool program that I can enter the Brotherson genealogy information into. I also found a neat program for the website that allows you to import that data and show it on the web. You can see the Brotherson genealogy and family tree here. The software is phpGedView and looks to be promising. Thanks to my Grandpa, W.J. Brotherson for providing me with the details of some research other family members have done. I’ve gone back as far as our ancestors that immigrated to the states from Denmark. Perhaps later I can detail the Rollins side and Finnerty side as well.
