I put my foot down six months ago and said no more fostering. I even bought Lindsay the little Ziggy guy. Our hearts are just too big. The race season came to a close and GALT has over 100 dogs to place. They are in dire need of foster homes for these dogs as over 40 of them are being boarded at various kennels at a cost of $8 per day per dog. Not only is it a huge cost to GALT but the dogs have a better time at a person’s home. We picked up our foster dog yesterday and she is doing her best to fit in. Yeah, we’re animal people.

Our combined electric/gas bill from CoServ came yesterday. It is the cheapest bill we’ve had since buying this house and also counting the year we rented on the east side of Frisco – $157! The electric charges were just $100.15 which is simply amazing. I’ll enjoy this while I can as last summer we hit $600 as the highest bill. Most of the reduction is attributable to the weather as we didn’t have to run the heat or the air conditioning much at all.

That tag line is rather misleading – should be more flags less fun. We decided to venture to Six Flags Over Texas yesterday and should have turned around before sitting for an hour on the highway to get off at the exit for Six Flags Road. The long wait times continued to be a theme for the day. Roughly an hour was spent in line to purchase tickets. Another twenty minutes to get through security. Each ride had a wait of at least an hour – some more than two. Every food pavilion had massive lines as well and it took us over an hour to get our terrible chili-cheese dogs. Did we mention the ‘ride lockers’ where you must pay a dollar to store your bag as you can’t bring it through the lines for the new rides?
We did manage to get on five rides though. The Judge Roy Scream was the first and also Molly’s first real roller coaster. You should have seen the expression on her face afterward…priceless! On to the parachutes next and then the mine train. After that we hit the Yosemite Sam ride and concluded the night with Tony Hawk’s Big Spin. I do believe Molly had fun despite the long lines. Ultimately though the experience was bad enough that it will seriously impact our decision on whether to go back or not which I suspect is the reason why the parks are in financial troubles.

Tonight was a night of reckoning in our family. Sir Ralph was rather lethargic and not very responsive. A visit to the vet revealed hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Unfortunately it was too far along and any attempt in saving him would ultimately be futile. Ralph lived a great life and will be missed by all that have met him. Lindsay and i watched his birth and to see his life end is a trying event for everyone.
We love you buddy…
